FFU – Charge It To The Game

Filthy Fingers United going strong and releasing a video game themed mix tape. I was excited to get into some real old ones from my childhood. I settled on Bubble Ghost. This game was a family favorite on our Amiga back in the early 90s, anyone remember this? You can check out game play from the version we had below:

I learned that the intro song, which I used to listen on repeat for what seems like hours before I actually clicked in to play the game, was written by Stéphane Picq , who also composed the soundtrack for “Lost Eden” and “Dune”. Through some internet sleuthing, I was able to locate an interview where he talks about how he got the opportunity to write it last minute as a coder. He currently lives in Madagascar and I think I will forever be connected to this song. I rewrote it in midi using some of the original samples and did a techno flip for the second half of the song manipulating original game sound effects.

Quick rewind for you that don’t know, FFU is a collective of producers building, promoting, and evolving the artistry of hip hop production and culture. NW based, known nationally.
